Craig Mundie is a technology executive and advisor whose work spans innovation, business strategy, and public policy.
He spent 22 years at Microsoft in senior leadership roles, including Chief Technical Officer, Chief Research and Strategy Officer, and Senior Advisor to the CEO. In these positions, Craig helped shape the company’s long-term technology strategy and research agenda. He continues to advise Microsoft on strategic initiatives.
Craig has also served in a range of public policy roles. For a decade, he was a member of the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee, providing guidance to the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations on technology and national security. He also served eight years on President Obama’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, contributing to national science and technology policy.
Today, Craig advises corporations and governments on emerging technologies and their societal implications, with a focus on artificial intelligence, quantum computing, cybersecurity, fusion energy, and molecular medicine. He is co-chair of a Track II dialogue with China on artificial intelligence and is the co-author of Genesis: Artificial Intelligence, Hope, and the Human Spirit, written with Eric Schmidt and the late Henry Kissinger.
Beyond his professional roles, Craig is a frequent speaker and contributor on the future of technology, emphasizing responsible development and the need for thoughtful governance as new systems emerge.
